AYF Camp Celebrates 35th Anniversary
MONTEBELLO—Long time supporters of AYF Camp gathered on Saturday, November 9th, at the Montebello Armenian Center, to celebrate AYF Camp’s 35th Anniversary. As Aravod Band from Philadelphia and DJ Eddy had the hall ablaze with uplifting tunes, the attendees spent the evening dancing, laughing, and reminiscing. The event proved to be a great success by gathering a crowd of 250 attendees and $20,000 in donations. All donations from the event will be benefiting the AYF Camp Lodge Renovation Project.
“I grew up going to AYF Camp, and nothing makes me happier than giving back to my second home,” said Arpa Hatzbanian, counselor and Day Camp committee member. “Camp has managed to stay successful for 35 years, and now we must ensure the lodge can properly accommodate for AYF Camp’s continuous success.”
During the last 10 years, AYF Camp Management Board has been committed to establish the campground as a state-of-the art facility through a complete renovation of all structures at AYF Camp. Having spent over half a million dollars thus far, Management Board and its volunteers have completed restoration of 11 heated cabins, a fully equipped infirmary, restrooms throughout the campground, the swimming pool, campfire gazebo, flagpole, and other improvements. The last major project remaining is the dining lodge.
The Lodge Renovation Project aims to raise $400,000 for a brand new dining hall, kitchen, office and sleeping quarters. With the lodge renovation planned to begin in the near future, fundraising efforts have now launched and will continue throughout the New Year.
Lodge Renovation Project donations can be made by contacting the AYF Camp office, (818) 242-7494.
